![]() The insruments that have been playing all the while give one last victorious "umph!" right as the words "Strike Witches" clashes onto the screen.Īnd this is all within 30 seconds. The Strike Witches logo then appears and slams onto the screen in a fancy manner, as an ear-splitting rifle report signals stars to appear. They ride hopefully on into the horizon until they disappear from sight. The roar of their mighty Striker Units fills your ears, almost as if the Witches have flown out of the sceeen and just blazed right past you. drums sound, the brave lasses of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing come gloriously into view, each Witch gettng a little face-shot so that the viewer can get an idea of who the characters are. An epic orchestra is building up to a climax. The blue sky, saturated with white clouds, is penetrated by a rising and bright yellow sun. The first 30 seconds of the Strike Witches OVA are some of the most awesome moments I've ever seen in any anime. In my opinion, this pilot episode of sorts is actually better than the main Strike Witches series, far better really, and I'll explain why. The Strike Witches OVA is a stark exception. ![]() OVAs usually aren't as "good" as an actual series, nor are OVA's held with as high regard as an acual series. This OVA might be my first step to stop my Strike Witches hate and a step that just invited me to an exploration of a whole new experience as I have higher hopes for other works now. This wasn't as bad as I expected this to be. This was actually pretty enjoying even compared to the longer anime series, the fun is balanced with the interesting facts well, but at the end a few parts just get slightly annoying. ![]() I was pleasently surprised about Major Sakamoto especially. The characters were shown fine for such a short amount of time. Nothing epic to go crazy and start getting mp3's of this, yet still quite satisfying. The sound was good, it fit well with the theme. It's pretty, gives a wibe of WWII at times and there are featured many interesting images. the anime series, but it doesn't mean it's bad. I am willing to check out the manga and novels now. It was actually a good introduction to the universe and my view about Strike Witches has changed. Finally something more then just ridiculous amounts of shear fanserwis and nothing else. Finally a load of new things actually started to make sense to me. And I was pleasently surprised.Īlthough the story is rather short, there are many things explained in details, which I didn't see in the longer anime show. I watched this Ova after i watched two of the later seasons of Strike Witches.
